Vape Reviews, Nothing Less, Nothing More.

19 of the best temperature controlled box mods that won’t break the bank

From mechanicals to variables and now temp control. The state of vape has entered a new era.

You’ve done it, I’ve done it, we’ve all done it. Kissing the dragon edit* blowing the devil. It’s when you take a vape and get nothing but dry, half burnt firey cotton in your throat. Don’t even think about a dry hit with mesh. WOW it’s like 10 times worse.

Kissing the dragon is actually when you take a hit of your dripper without the top cap on. Yikes!

Thank you vape gods for temperature control. You will never have to deal with a dry hit ever again because of this supremely awesome feature.

The Evolv DNA has pioneered the TC chips but go to any popular B&M or online vape store and they probably carry only one DNA device and it’s sold out. It’s no fault of the DNA, they just simply can’t make them fast enough nor cheap enough than our Chinese vape overlords can.

Yes, these 19 badass temp control box mods come from China, so why should YOU care about these Chinese temperature control box mods?

Two reasons, they are freakin cool, and cheap. There is no reason to shell out $300+ on a new mod when you’ve got these Chinese mods available. Think about all the delicious e-juice you could buy with cash still burning a hole in your wallet.

Or if you have enough e-juice, spend the extra doe on another mod, because

One mod is always better than two
NO ONE EVER

Ok, so let’s get on with the list. I’ll start with the most expensive one first (It’s still under a hundred bucks).

Are we missing any? Let us know in the comments!

1. WISMEC REULEAUX RX200

The Wismec Reuleaux RX200 Box Mod by Jay Bo Designs builds upon the Reuleaux triple 18650 (batteries sold separately) platform, utilizing the chassis and design while integrating an equally powerful 200W chipset that simultaneously brings the device to a much more affordable price point.

3. THE SIGELEI 150W TC BOX MOD

This Sigelei comes in 5 colors and 150 Watts of vaping power. 2 18650’s power this guy. Magnetic back, spring loaded 510 pin, reverse battery protection and a smooth, rubbery silicon sleeve.

tesla-160w-wood-tc-box-mod

4. TESLA WOOD 160W TC BOX MOD

One of my favorite new Chinese TC box mods. 160 Watts to give you plenty of power for your most alien looking coil build. While it’s not one of those impossible-to-get unicorn mods like the Gepetto, if you’re into cool wooden box mods for mortals, this would be it.

tesla-metal-160w-tc-mod

5. TESLA METAL 160W TC BOX MOD

The metal brother of the wooden Tesla 160W above. A great looking and performing box especially if you like the metal look. Oh btw the black one has a pretty badass carbon fiber finish. 2 18650’s are standard.

tesla-nano-100w-tc-box-mod

6. TESLA NANO 100W TC BOX MOD

Coming in at 79mm by 48mm by 23mm, one of the best and smallest TC box mods coming out of China. I would like to give a shout out to the designer of this thing! Jony Ive, it’s not you is it? It’s Powered by a built in 4500 mAh battery so replacing those could be a bitch.

7. TESLA 200W TC MOD

Tesla is in the game again with a 200 Watt monster. Basically it’s the big brother to the 160W only there aint any wood option, although I would suspect one is probably coming. Also you can get this in a new red carbon fiber version. 2 18650’s in this guy.

8. SMOK X CUBE II 160W TC BOX MOD

A flashy LED blaring bluetooth box mod from Smoktech. The bluetooth is pretty nifty and a unique addition to mods, plus it actually works… we all know the reliability of Chinese software. Fire it up like you would using vice grips, a full hand squeeze does the trick. Then get in the zone and watch the LED’s light up your house.

9. TESLA 80W TC BOX MOD

Tesla, at it again with an 80 Watt mod that sports a more rugged and industrial look. Comes in a 4 colors and not much bigger than the Tesla Nano 100W. Only downside is it takes one 18650.

kanger-nebox-starter-kit

10. KANGER NEBOX TC ALL-IN-ONE STARTER KIT

The first all-in-one starter kit in our list and a unique one at that. It sports a built in 10ml capacity tank and supports organic cotton coils as well as a mini-rba coil for when you’re feeling adventurous. I’m pretty sure this is one of those devices that will spark a love hate relationship.

11. SMOK X CUBE MINI 75W TC BOX MOD

The little brother to the X Cube 160, and basically the same. You’ve got bluetooth, the cool LED’s, and the full hand trigger power button. It does take only one 18650 though.

Sigelei-Fuchai-200W-TC-MOD

12. SIGELEI FUCHAI 200W TC BOX MOD

Sigelei’s 200W TC Mod sure is powerful, however maybe not the most beautiful out of the bunch. It’s got some interesting ripple effects by the firing button. Umm…I guess that’s the only thing I can say about it. 4 colored options and twin 18650’s in it.

aspire-pagasus-70w-tc-box-mod

13. ASPIRE TC PEGASUS 70W BOX MOD

Aspire’s version of the temp control box mod. Pretty beautiful design with the brushed metal finish and decent power, unless you’re a fire breathing dragon. Powered by one 18650 battery.

14. JOYETECH EVIC VT BOX MOD 60W STARTER KIT

The second temp control mod kit on the list behind the Kanger Nebox. Not as pretty, but probably more functional, still… not as pretty.

joyetech-evic-vtc-60w-kit

15. JOYETECH EVIC VTC MINI 60W STARTER KIT

The mini version to the 60 Watt above. A much improved design! I love the modern look vs the weird striped retro look. Not gonna win a cloud comp with it but who cares about those anyways.

16. SIGELEI 75W TC BOX MOD

A cool minimal design from Sigelei that comes in black and silver. Nothin bad at all to say about it although nothin overly amazing either.

wismec-presa-tc75w-box-mod

17. WISMEC PRESA TC75W BOX MOD

Another one of my favorites on the list. Love the design and the larger screen compared to the first 40W Wismec. Like the X Cube, its got a unique trigger button. You’d fit right in at the latest Star Wars convention, although don’t vape it there.

18. ELEAF ISTICK 60W TC FULL STARTER KIT

The third and final starter kit on our list. Made famous by it’s earlier relatives, the iStick has always been a great little mod. Now it’s even better with temp control. Consistently one of the smallest box mods on the market.

19. IPV D2 75W TEMPERATURE CONTROL BOX MOD

To round out our list is Pioneer 4 You’s D2 75 Watt mod. Design. Check. Power. Check. I love this guy, and it’s one of the cheapest mods on the list. It’s small and has some really neat angles. Only one 18650 powering it though.

  1. Makes me wanna collect them all hahaha! I have my eyes on Smok X Cube II 160 and the mini version. I like my mod as simple as that but still looks elegant.

    • Yeah definitely a solid device with a cool trigger!

    • I have then both and just love then
They are good but go though batterys so get a lot

  2. Is the Kanger Nebox the best mod for a beginner? I really like the look of it, but am a complete noob!

    • Hey Olivia, yeah I would say it’s a solid, easy to use device for a beginner.

    • It was my first “real” vape, and although I have collected 3 other mods since, I still use it on a daily basis as my work device. My wife loves hers as well. The build deck is about as simple as it gets and doesn’t leak after mild trial and error. My complaint is I wish the factory coils had more cotton, or something, because I don’t get great flavor, but the 0.15 coils do produce impressive clouds for such a tiny device. I still re com end it to most people, and although you may end up upgrading for better decks and higher watts, it’s still a great piece to have , its reliable, small, simple and powerful enough.

  3. I have the xcube 2 and the sigelei fuchai 200 and the fuchai doesn’t get a review anywhere close to what it should on this site it is hands down better that he xcube 2. The Bluetooth is cool but not practical the fire button again is cool but mine is less than two months old and I have had to take it apart to clean it because the fire button was already sticking and the magnets in the battery cover are not strong enough so the battery door rattles and will fall off. The xcube 2 is 180 w now after the new updates but all and all the fuchai is the better mod much longer battery life and more power. Not to mention no tacky led lights flashing everything u push the fire button.

  4. Just bought the kbox 200w from kanger & I LOVEEEE it. I have it paired with the aspire cleito and could NOT be happier!

    • That’s exactly what I wanna do have the cleito I wand a diff mod u reccomed

  5. I have an Aspire Quest Mini Kit (yes i know it’s an Aspire) and I’m currently using temperature control with a 0.2 Ni200 coil and i have to say one of the best multi-use mods I’ve ever used, especially for TC.

    What’s your opinion?

  6. Kinda bummed. These are some of the BEST priced and imaginative mods I’ve seen! I started about a year ago -bang, right outta the box (cigs)?and into the Sigelei, 100w, originally had the black model (should have KEPT it, as the Silver doesn’t have the pin adjustment like the black). Paid $115. Then, shortly after, got an Eleaf Istick, 50w sub ohm, so I could hold mine while I was driving. Had the Kangertech tops for both. Then? I JUST bought the Reuleaux RX 200. I bought the last one on a whim, as my battery charger (cheapest) took a dive. Unfortunately, I’ve had NOTHING but problems with this, including a busted glass cap on my SMOK subtank, which SUCKS, because it’s THE COOLEST subtank. (maybe if they made the glass a bit thicker, because my mod ALREADY has a rubber cover! )? Anyway, thanks for the AWESOME suggestions. Maybe I’ll just have to buy my product online next time. (The juice CAN’T be better; I’ve tried MANY, coast to coast, and my guy CAN’T be beat).

  7. I think that the pioneer4you ipv3 li should be in there

  8. Very nice list, to say the least. I would revise this list though to include: Wismec Reuleaux RX200 and the Reuleaux DNA200, Joyetech Cuboid, and the Lavabox DNA200. Unless you were going for the more affordable side which you are then exclude the DNA200 mods. Other than this, a great piece and hope to see you update this.

    • I have had 2 cuboid mods. Knowing the rep of Joytech I thought…. I must get the Cuboid. Loved it for a week than it wouldn’t recognise the batteries. I bought 2 new and same thing. The vendor replaced it and 33 days later same thing. If you Google it on the net there are thousands of people who have the same problem. Screw Joytech. When I pointed this out to them they didn’t care. Never again Joytech!

  9. I love all of these mods but I’m really searching all over for a boxmod that has a built-in battery but has a wattage of over 70 and is not too expensive. Please recommend some to me I need help 🙂

    • Smok R80 TC is what you looking for….

  10. Nice list. Too bad you didn’t include dimensions for all these devices.

  11. Google for one eleaf I stick Pico, it tics all my boxes

  12. I have the RX200, and the RX 200s, Both have UWELL Crown tanks on them… Don’t think I’m ever going to need to upgrade again..Love WISMEC products and Love my UWELL Crown’s… Best Juice I’ve had in these is Grape Clouds By Big League Clouds. Taste just like Grape Big League Chew and is Definitely an all day Vape that makes major CLOUDS!!!

  13. I’m using the WISMEC PRESA TC75W BOX MOD and so far, I’m happy with it.

  14. Great collection, good read! I recommend the aspire tc pegasus. With the charging dock and the Triton tank it’s really a nice setup at a good price. Quality is excellent and no magnets to fall off on this one.

  15. Just got my 24 vape reekbox @80watts, and put a crown uwell on top. Hits like a gem. Got it from Vape factory in Glendale CA. If you ever pass by, ask for the guy Brandon, he sold it to me.

  16. I’ve been using the iStick Pico with Tron tank since around 9 months. Works perfectly and it’s relatively small for a box mod, so easy to carry around. Next one will be the Wismec Reuleaux RX300. Unfortunately here in Europe due to the TPD2 regulations we have to wait another 6 months to get our hands on that one.

  17. Hey!
No comment on SMOKtech products? I personally feel that their Software is giving them a big Advantage over others. I would not ignore that, even in a comparison that is trying to find the most robust one. i also think that most boxmod vaporizer combinations are keen to break easier than out-of-the-box Solutions like an egrip 2.

  18. I bought the reuleaux 2/3 about a month a month ago. The back kept popping off and now it won’t do anything at all. Wismec makes these out of cheap aluminum or plastic. They are designed to fail. People, planned obsolescence is the thing from these Chinese factories. I wish Jaybo had partnered with a better company because he’s an awesome engineer!

  19. Breanna, please start blogging again 🙂

  20. The Joyetech Evic VTC is a good one i like the Design of this Vape.
Until now the best I had.
